La collezione nasce agli inizi degli anni '80 dalla passione di Sergio Sciarpetti per il mondo delle due ruote e più in particolare per quello degli scooters.
Nel corso degli anni la raccolta si è impreziosita di pezzi unici acquistati, dopo lunghe ricerche, da vecchi concessionari o presso mercatini, aste e mostre scambio. La collezione conta attualmente circa 80 mezzi, 18 dei quali costruiti prima del 1923.
Oltre ai marchi storici nazionali come Vespa e Lambretta, dei quali si può apprezzare l'excursus storico con l'evoluzione tecnica e stilistica dei vari modelli, la collezione vanta pezzi provenienti dall'estero di particolare pregio ed è impreziosita da numerosi memorabilia.
Nel DNA del Sig. Sciarpetti, curatore del museo, c'è da sempre la passione per gli scooter, a partire dall'adoloscenza, quando all'età di 14 anni ricevette in regalo la prima Vespa 50 R o, quando nel tempo libero, si recava dallo zio, concessionario Piaggio.
Alla base di una collezione straordinaria c'è forse una latente passione per la "Dolce Vita" degli anni '50 e '60 e quella per le forme rotondeggianti e sinuose degli scooters che, oltre ad appagare il senso dell'estetica, aprivano, in quegli anni, una finestra sul futuro del design. Il primo mezzo, una Vespa 125 del 1955, acquistato tramite un giornale di annunci locali per 40.000 lire nei primi anni '80, segna la pietra miliare di un grande progetto e di un grande amore.

From the passion of Sergio Sciarpetti for the “two wheels” world, in a particolar way for the scooters, the collection was born in the beginnings of 80’s. In the course of the years the collection its been embellish buying only unic pieces, after long searches from old concessionaire, small markets, poles or exchange shows. The collection actually has about 80 vehicles , 18 of which were built in the early of 1923. In addition to the National historical trademarks as Vespa e Lambretta, of which one can appreciate the storical “excursus” with the tecnical evolution and stylistic of the various models, the collection features pieces from abroad and particolar value and embellished with numeorus “memorabilia”. In Mr. Sciarpetti’s DNA, curator of the museum, there’s been always the passion for the scooter, since the beginning of adolescense, when at the age of 14 years received as a gift the first Vespa 50 R, or where in the free time, he went to his uncle, who worked as a Piaggio concessionarie. Maybe at the base of an extraordinary collection, there is a big passion for the “Dolce Vita” from the 50’s and 60’s and for the rounded and sinous forms of the scooters, beyond to satisfay the esthetic sense, they opened in that years a window on the future of design. The first vehicle, a Vespa 125 from 1925, buyed through a local newspaper for 40,000 old italian pounds in the beginnings of 80’s, marks the milestone of a great project and a great love.
